»Leave him alone!«

A short yell appeared, as from a far distance.

Darkness.

The boy doesn’t manage to sell the gloomy veils in front of his eyes.

Pain.

Insane pain chases through his body.

»Leave him alone!«

He drifts contrary to unconsciousness once more.

The teenager runs along the footpath on the other side of the street, in his hand he holds a plastic bag with a baguette that he bought in the French fast food restaurant for him and his little brother, in the other hand he holds a cigarette he just lighted but drops now. Side-stings try to prevent him from running, but he does not pay attention to it because he has only eyes of his brother.

The blood puddle around his head unstoppable grows.

Without paying attention to the traffic he cross the street, whereupon a monotonous horn rings out, screeching tires. Something hits his knee badly. He falls, slides across the hot asphalt at the same time he loses the bag and tries to grab it again in his panic but he reaches into the void.

The world surrounding him fades out. From far away he can hear the hysterical voice of a woman, but her words echo meaningless in his ears. Slowly he drifts over to the dark empire, fights it and for a short moment it seems as he has a chance against the dark layers, but finally there is only an empty, unnatural silent blackness around him.

Before the teenager finds the strength to open his eyes, he hears the dull sounding growl menacingly and a deep discomfort covers his heart.

The boy – his brother.

The blood around his petite body turns up in his mind's eye, as well as the black beast, from which this mad growling is coming from.

Dazed, he opens his eyes, a violent throbbing explodes behind his temples. He ignores it as best as he can. His thoughts are dominated by just one aim; he has to help his brother, especially after he already had been unable to protect him.

He looks around. Not far from him are two legs dressed with a beige linen trousers and stuck in snow-white sneakers. More he can’t recognize from his lying position; to his dismay, it obstructs his view of his little brother.

Accompanied by a strong hammering behind his skull, the teenager lifts himself up, a murderous pain inflames in his knee immediately. Awkwardly, he staggers a few steps forward, thinks with every move he has to faint again, however, this time he manages to stand up against the lurking blackness.

Nothing has changed in the scenario at the beginning of the canal bridge, the red blood of his brother still mixes with the dirty asphalt. Loud screaming he tries to lure away the black German Shepherd, but the dog ignores him what can certainly be due to his voice sounds more raspy than dangerous.

Step by step the teenager fights his way closer to the action, taking his own pain as well as he can drive them out of his thoughts. He stops behind the beast and sucks the hot, foulest August air into his lungs, not knowing what he should do now.
